But he isbest known for his theater works from the late 20s to themid-30s, mostly with Bertolt Brecht in Germany. This included a cabaret-scaled Mahagonny, Threepenny Opera, and their last collaboration The Seven Deadly Sins, the latter produced inParis after fleeing the Nazis when their works triggered riots, raising interest in the two. Well explore this era in their partnership, their lives in Paris, and why Weill married his leading lady not once, but twice.Act Two: In 1935, Weill and his, then-divorced, wife and leading lady traveled to New York where, in short order, he had two successful productions running concurrently on Broadway. In all, he ended up writing eight wonderful works for the Broadway stage. Well explore his hits while learning more about a few of the more unusual shows he wrote. Not unusualthe lyricists his work attracted, including Learner, Hart, Nash and Gershwin.
